On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to invite you to take part in the China Civil Aviation Development Forum, which will take place on May 9th and 10th 2007, in Beijing.

These have been challenging times for the civil aviation industry worldwide. For China the challenges have been compounded by the fast-paced growth of its civil aviation sector, reflected in both passenger traffic and air cargo and mail traffic, each of which have grown at an annual rate of more than 15% for the past 5 years, with double digit growth projected to 2020.

China has made tremendous strides to meet the challenges of high speed growth in the civil aviation sector, including in security, safety, service quality and infrastructure development. China has accelerated the pace of opening up air transport internationally through bilateral agreements and progressive liberalization, and is continuing to lower market access barriers to foreign investment. All this will continue as CAAC works towards building a strong and dynamic aviation sector, dedicated to global best practice as a fundamental for sustained growth, and built on a new generation air transport system, beginning with a technologically advanced and systematically reliable air traffic control system. But there is much more to be done and we cannot do it alone.

This high level Forum will focus on both the achievements and challenges in the Chinese and global aviation sector to date, the current and upcoming policies and initiatives of the Chinese Government, and the latest developments in international co-operation.

The China Civil Aviation Development Forum will bring together an outstanding panel of the top level government policy makers, both Chinese and from other countries, international civil aviation organizations, and senior aviation executives. It is intended to encourage an open interchange of ideas, between all the stakeholders, on the major issues that face the civil aviation community worldwide, international co-operation is as important for China, as it is for the entire global community.

We invite you to join us at this timely event, to hear about China’s plans for the development of its civil aviation industry and to capitalize on the tremendous commercial opportunities that such development presents today and into the future.

We look forward to welcoming you to Beijing on May 9th.
