China’s air traffic market is among the fastest growing in the world.  Average annual growth rate of air travelers in China has been more than 15% over the last several years and high growth rates are expected to prevail until 2020. Annual cargo volume is also increasing by double digits.

CAAC is projecting that total air traffic volume will double between 2005 and 2010. In passenger traffic, this means an increase from 138 million passengers in 2005 to 270 million by 2010. Industry forecasts predict that China will become the second largest aviation market in the world, after the United States, in three to five years.

With growth of this magnitude, China will need to add approximately 2,800 civilian aircraft, 190 airports and 40,000 trained pilots by 2023,  as well as establishing advanced air traffic control and management systems and installing and upgrading airport security systems. All this activity means unparalled opportunities for all sectors of the aviation industry.
